A booking system without commission per guest
Many restaurants pay an amount per guest for online bookings. Per booking it looks small, until you add it up over a month or a year. Here you can read how these models work, what they cost you and how to offer online bookings for a fixed price.
How does a commission per guest work?
Some booking platforms charge a fixed amount for every guest who books through their website or app, or an amount per booking. In return your restaurant appears in their app among other restaurants, which can bring in new guests.
The downside: you also pay for guests who already knew you and simply took the easiest route. The better your restaurant does, the higher the bill. And your guests’ details often live in the platform’s system, not yours.

The alternative: your own booking system for a fixed price
With your own booking system, guests book directly with you: through the button on your website, your Google Business Profile, Instagram or a link you share. You pay a fixed monthly price, however many guests come. The guest list is yours, and the booking page carries your name and branding.

You can combine both
You don’t have to leave a platform straight away. Many restaurants keep a listing for new guests, but send their own channels (website, Google, Instagram, phone) to their own booking page. That way you no longer pay commission on the guests you attract yourself.
